New: Information about continuing education and undergraduate credits
Beginning in the 2007-2008 year, some BOCEP courses will be eligible for one undergraduate credit each.

Some BOCEP courses have been or are eligible for 14 continuing education credits under the American Institute of Certified Planners Certification Maintenance program.

Here's what some course graduates say about BOCEP:

“I find myself employing the information I gained in the urban design program a year after the classes ended. The classes were structured in such a manner as to provide real-world applicability, but also to spark the interest of the student to continue self-education. A year removed from my last BOCEP class, and I am still utilizing skills and information daily that I garnered in the classes. I am a better economic development professional as a result of BOCEP and my clients are better off as well. I have recommended BOCEP to many and I will be back for more classes--I would be foolish not to!”

Chuck D’Aprix
Principal, Economic Development Visions
Washington D.C.

"Very well done. I'm hoping to have other members of my staff take these courses on the next go around. This really fit in with my very busy schedule and gave me the opportunity to think a lot and learn more that I would have if the only choice was an on location course."

Arthur Ientilucci
Director of Zoning, City of Rochester
Rochester, New York

Special note on AICP Certification Maintenance Credits for Professional Development Institute-affiliated courses

All eligible Bloustein Online Continuing Education Program, The Leading Institute and PDI Learning Lab courses, events and other professional development activities offered since January 1, 2008 will be submitted for Certification Maintenance credits.  The amount of credits will range from 1 to 24, depending on the course or event.

Submissions will be made in October 2008, or as soon as possible after the American Institute of Certified Planners revises the software it uses to accept submissions.  Planners seeking to log their credits should wait until November, when we expect the database to be fully updated.  (You have plenty of time to get and log your credits – the rest of 2008 and all of 2009.)

In June, the AICP Commission made changes to the Certification Maintenance program that is expected to reduce costs for continuing education providers that want to participate in the CM program.  This in turn will increase the number of courses available for CM credit and reduce potential costs for professional planners.

As part of this change, AICP staff need to revamp their system for accepting submissions and payments from certified providers.  These changes are expected to take place in October.

The only programming that will not be submitted are the BOCEP course Introduction to Urban Planning and any Learning Labs that do not have a direct connection to urban planning.

Updates on credits for PDI- affiliated programming are provided in PDI Advisor and PDI News.  Join the PDI Network to receive PDI Advisor/ PDI News.
