The Public Education Institute (PEI) joined the Center for Government Services in the Fall of 1999. PEI was established in 1975 as an independent organization dedicated to analyzing critical issues facing New Jersey's public schools, and assessing policy options with local and state decision makers. PEI conducts a variety of activities, including monthly roundtable's on topical issues featuring nationally known speakers, background briefings for the media, technical assistance to local schools, and selected policy studies on issues of importance.
