Annual Policy Conference:

NJPPRI Second Annual Policy Leadership Conference
Leadership Awards Luncheon
Lafayette Yard Marriott Hotel, Trenton, New Jersey
Thursday, May 8, 2003

Fulfilling its mission to inform the public about issues that face New Jersey's black community, NJPPRI held its Policy Leadership Conference in New Jersey's capital city. The 2003 NJPPRI Annual Report, "The State of Black New Jersey: Issues for a New Millennium," served as the event's organizing centerpiece. The conference sessions highlighted key issues that affect New Jersey's black community in the areas of workforce development, environmental justice, regionalism, housing and community development, health, education, youth development, and information technology. Conference sessions brought together local and national experts to analyze these topics. The Leadership Awards Luncheon featured four prominent New Jerseyans who by their participation in public life have made the state a better place to live: the Honorable James Florio, former governor of New Jersey; Zulima Farber of the Lowenstein Sandler law firm; Reverend Reginald Jackson, Pastor of St. Lukes AME Church; and New Jersey State Senator Joseph Charles. Reverend M. William Howard of Newark's Bethany Baptist Church gave the keynote address.
